Крижопіль

Vinnytsia region, Tulchyn district, Kryzhopil. A ghetto was established in the summer of 1942. In addition to local Jews, several Jewish families deported from Romania were placed in the ghetto. In 1943, the ghetto housed about 1,200 local Jews and 74 deportees from Romania. Kryzhopil served as a transit point for many thousands of Romanian Jews deported to Transnistria. As a rule, they were placed in a large railway club building, where many of them died of typhus.
