The building of the Odesa-Sorting railway station, converted in January-June 1942 by the Romanian occupation forces into a point of deportation for Jews to the Berezivka, Domanivka, Akmechetka, Karlivka, and Bohdanivka death camps. Most of the deported Jews were killed. In one of the camps alone, Bohdanivka, more than 54,000 Jews were killed and tortured.
