The new museum “Territories of Memory”, dedicated to the tragic stories of human history - the genocides of the 20th and 21st centuries, is located on Sadovaya Street in Odessa. It was created by the huge organization “Odessa Holocaust Research Center”, and students and members of the Odessa State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture took part in the development of the project. The exhibition will be dedicated to international ethnic and national evils, covering the genocide of the Ukrainian people in the current war. This includes the genocide of the Virmen in the Ottoman Empire, the genocide of the Crimean Tatar people, the genocide of Rwanda, Srebrenica, the genocide of the Roma, the Holocaust, the Holodomor of the Ukrainian people. On November 6, 2023, on the basis of the Odessa State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture, a competition of student design projects was held in the upcoming space, in which several teams took part. The most recognized project was the project of fourth year students of the Institute of Architecture and Art Vitalina Verbovitskaya, Orina Babentsova and Orina Goncharova (curator of the project Natalia Merzhievska, head of the department of architecture sporud ODABA). They competently filled and structured the space of the museum, created an original design that would create a wow effect for those looking at the entrance, and preserved everything to the best of their ability for the museum. There will be a current museum with information panels, touch tables, QR codes, where you can learn about historical events in more detail, there will be audio recordings - testimonies of people who survived the Famine and the Holocaust. The museum will become a popular space and one of the most important attractions for guests of our place and the residents of Odessa themselves.
