The Odessa Holocaust Research Center took part in a three-day seminar within the framework of the project “Museums: Rethinking”, organized by the Ukrainian Center for Holocaust Studies, which took place on November 17–19, 2023. in Kiev
History is cyclical if its lessons are not learned! Over the course of three days, the participants exchanged information, selected strategies and tools for the implementation of innovative ideas, supported each other and found ways of successful development. An important part of the seminar was discussions about rethinking work in the minds of Russia’s war against Ukraine and practical work about a trauma-sensitive approach, especially in the field of exhibitions, visits, and school projects. The exhibition “Mirrors of Death”, which the seminar participants looked at at the exhibition space of the Babin Yar Nature Reserve, emphasized that the Russian-Ukrainian war is a mirror of the Nazi regime and the Stalinist totalitarian regime. Thanks to the Ukrainian Center for Holocaust Studies and especially to the director Anatoly Yukhimovich Podolsky for his cooperation with the Odessa Holocaust Research Center. Funding for the project “Museums: Rethinking”, organized by Ukrainian centers for the study of the history of the Holocaust, is carried out under the Stabilization Fund for Culture and Education 2023, the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs referenced by the Goethe Institute.
