Тирасполь

Tiraspol. During the occupation, the Romanian authorities established the Transnistrian Governorate in the captured territory between the Dniester and the Southern Bug, the capital of which was Tiraspol from August 10 to October 16, 1941 (on October 17, the center of the governorate was moved to Odessa). Most of the Jews of Tiraspol were killed or deported to death camps (in 1926, 6,398 Jews lived in the city, which was 29% of the city's total population).
