Battles went from 24 fierce to 10 leaf fall in 2022 in Mykolaiv and around the world during the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The leading forces of the Russians had reached Kherson and were preparing to attack Mykolayiv. Behind him were two important directions – to Odessa and Yuzhnoukrainsk, where the large nuclear power plant was destroyed. At about 4:58, Russian artillery and aviation began to shell the Kulbakinsky airport and the port of Ochakiv. After the bombing of the airfield, the 299th brigade and the 10th brigade began to raise all aviation in the air until the beginning of the air attack, so they did not recognize the daily expenses. Under the hour of a large-scale Russian invasion, General Dmitry Marchenko took over the defense of Mykolayiv. A video from the head of the regional military administration, Vitaly Kim, helped boost morale. With his optimism and a sense of humor, we made it clear: there is nothing to be afraid of, we understand. “You can get people to believe in themselves and do the work,” Marchenko respects. Having stood, having sensed the solidarity of the people of Spivs and the support of the world, Mykolayiv residents rethink the past and want for themselves the future, and not just today.
